Opportunity knocks as struggling Boston United host bottom club Gateshead

Boston United have a great opportunity to gain that elusive second home National League win of the season when bottom club Gateshead visit tomorrow night (Tuesday, 7.45pm).

Either side of a home county derby FA Cup defeat by Scunthorpe United, the Pilgrims have impressed at home to Southend United and, on Saturday, away at Eastleigh but frustratingly ended up losing both games and remain in the drop zone.

“We can now wallow in Saturday's defeat or think we have a game again on Tuesday and another opportunity to win,” said boss Paul Hurst.

“You have to keep going. Perseverance is a huge thing, and it can be easy not to do so because of too many disappointments.

“So we've got to make sure we're up for that game.

“Gateshead didn't play at the weekend due to a waterlogged pitch.

“But we have to really focus on ourselves and give ourselves every chance to go and win that game.

“And we then follow that up with another big home game against Scunthorpe on Saturday.”

Connor Teale, Gavan Holohan, and Levi Sutton all missed Saturday's defeat at Eastleigh with injury and are all doubts for tomorrow night too.

Tuesday fixture is the first of three to be designated as 'kids for a quid' offerings this season and U16s can attend for just £1 (maximum two per paying adult) to coincide with the October half-term break.

Further 'kids for a quid' fixtures will take place against Yeovil Town on Saturday, 19th December and FC Halifax Town on Tuesday, 16th February.

As a more general rule for 2026-2027, all U14s must be accompanied by an adult to gain admission to the Jakemans Community Stadium.

Tickets remain on sale for Saturday's visit of Scunthorpe and the club's annual Fireworks Night on Thursday, 5th November.
